The Social Development Institute, Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University, Ukrainian Youth Association of New York and Saturday School of Ukrainian CYM in New York, with the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York and the approval of the President of Ukraine, launched the program "Educating Ukrainian American Youth in Ukraine" in cooperation with the Summer School of Ukrainian Studies at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

This program enables the Ukrainian Americans at the Summer School of Ukrainian Studies at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy to improve their Ukrainian language ability, as well as their understanding and awareness of Ukrainian history, literature, culture, art, etc. The Summer School of Ukrainian Studies at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy provides an organic combination of the learning process with cultural excursions to enable comprehensive development and intellectual enrichment of participating students.

The Summer School of Ukrainian Studies is an integral parts of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, an institution, which traces its history from 1615, received approval of its curriculum a special meeting of UNESCO in 1993 and and earned the title "National University" in 1994. The Summer School program incorporates centuries of Academy's and the nation's educational traditions and a modern liberal arts approach.

The Summer at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy program attempts to rejuvenate the ties of Ukrainians in United States with their historical homeland, restore Ukrainian national pride by dissemination of accurate information about its history and enable younger generations of Ukrainians to partake in the nation's scientific and cultural development and feel worthy of representing the nation globally.
